CS-Medication
CS-Medication is the module for the management of medication data of both
inpatients and outpatients. CS-Medication is simple and transparent to use.
Apart from for hospital department use, CS-Medication is also very convenient
for general practitioners and pharmacies establishing safeguards and saving
time. With CS-Medication, ChipSoft has anticipated the demand for an Electronic
Prescription System and making medical data available to the electronic patient
record (EPR) in a transmural environment.
CS-Medication is an electronic medication prescription system that has been
designed in such a way that a patient’s complete medication profile can be
compiled. Clinical and outpatient medication can be prescribed with
CS-Medication. Medication profiles for admission and discharge medication are
also supported. In CS-Medication, the patient’s complete medication history can
be requested. This facilitates proper monitoring of medication by, for example,
the (city) pharmacy or a locum.
How does CS-Medication work?
The system advises and checks during the prescription of medication and
indicates any medication conflicts, should they arise. Each patient’s name and
address data, allergies and medication history are kept up-to-date. All relevant
data are available and can be requested in situ. Once the medication order (MO)
has been given, it can be printed out and/or sent by e-mail, fax or directly to
the pharmacy system. In addition, CS-Medication has two other practical
features: the predefined medication order (PMO) and the predefined combination
medication order (PCMO). Using these options, the doctor can make his/her own
list of ‘favorites’ of frequently used medication orders and combination
prescriptions. Then it is just a matter of a single click and the order is ready
to be processed. CS-Medication is platform-independent. Which means that the
doctor can use CS-Medication anywhere, anytime, for example from a laptop or
pocket PC.

Through the electronic prescription of medication mistakes can no longer be made
as a result of poorly legible handwriting on a prescription. Above all,
CS-Medication provides immediate insight into contraindications, so that it is
impossible to make mistakes during prescription. Privacy-sensitive data are
encrypted when sent by e-mail.
Most important features
All medication data can be added to the EPR. Because of this, input only has
to take place once. Information about a medicine or the group to which it
belongs can be easily retrieved, and based on the diagnosis a predefined
medication order can be selected in which an automatic check takes place for
contraindications and allergies, double medication, pseudomedication and
interaction. The interface is easy to alter for each doctor’s daily practice or
specialism. Each doctor can manage the medication list, and convenient
‘favorites’ can be made for each individual user. Writing repeat prescriptions
only requires a single press of the button. If different brands of medication
are used, a transformation takes place to the hospital pharmacy’s formula.
CS-Medication also offers many extra features, such as for example indicating at
what point in time a patient should be administered medication, printing a
rounds list and registering medication data during an operation or in recovery.
