CS-Radiology

Radiology system

CS-Radiology is a complete system for radiology departments, in which the emphasis has been placed on integrated support of all the activities performed in the department.

Appointment management and planning facilitate efficient and optimum management of the radiology department. Various situations can be taken into account in this planning function. The appointment function in CS-Radiology provides excellent support for efficient planning on the basis of the factors entered. Patient data originate from the Hospital Information System (HIS) present. A direct interface with the relevant HIS is made for this purpose.

How does CS-Radiology work?

On top of efficient planning and dealing with appointments, CS-Radiology provides good support for patient routing around the department, in which all activities related to a patient can be recorded with a single strike of a key. The staff involved can see in a single screen where patients are located. Through recording data, valuable operational information becomes available for the management. After the performance of examinations (procedures), the reporting can take place, for which all the available data from the examination and the patient can be made available. After authorization of the reports, the procedures can be approved and sent to the care institution’s invoicing system through an interface.

Benefits

Data registration can take place both centrally and in the various treatment rooms. The registration in the treatment rooms is simplified through the use of barcodes. The various procedures performed can be easily registered in the treatment room by scanning the corresponding treatment’s barcode. Radiology reports are characterized by a high degree of structure and frequent use of standard phrases. By selecting standard text blocks, a report can be constructed quickly. Every time a new record is created or an existing record is supplemented with data, this can be indicated in the archive management system without much trouble. After this notification, labels for files and images are automatically printed out, so that a new record can be immediately added to the archive. This makes it possible to integrate the radiology archive seamlessly with the central medical archive.

Most important features

The importance of the integration of the X-ray system with the currently present or planned PACS system in the care institution is increasing. CS-Radiology has various options for integration with the PACS suppliers who are active in the market. ChipSoft has already implemented ‘desktop integration’ with various PACS suppliers, thus allowing the user to work from a single desktop without needing to switch between one system and the other. A good example of this is the radiologists’ work list, which can be integrated with the PACS system. This enables the radiologist to consult the images directly on the PACS monitor from the “work list”. In addition, web viewers can be made available within the X-ray system (usually issued by the PACS suppliers), so that the stored patient’s images are available everywhere. These images can for example be consulted in the EPR (Electronic Patients Record).

Just as for all the other ChipSoft modules, the data recorded in the system can be a valuable source of information with CS-Radiology. The statistics module can be used to bring this added value to the fore. This module can be completely configured to suit the wishes of the user and deliver important management information.
