EPR
ChipSoft’s Electronic Patient Record (EPR) provides significant support to
the work processes of doctors and other care providers. All patient related data
can be integrally managed. The EPR should not really be considered as a
‘separate’ module with a standard implementation, but as a flexible
configurable information system that supports the primary treatment process.
The EPR can be tuned to every practical situation. A small set of functions
can be employed, for example the consultation of laboratory results linked to
the writing of letters. However, the EPR can also be employed with a wide range
of functionalities, varying from diary management and correspondence to the
prescription of medication, requests for and consultation of radiology results.
How does the EPR work?
The EPR is easy to use. The moment that anamnesis takes place or medication
is prescribed, the care provider records these data at the treatment location.
The data is then immediately accessible for all authorized users anywhere. To
register data appropriately, ChipSoft’s EPR employs the module
CS-Questionnaire. A helpful and intelligent
tool that leads the user rapidly through the system using a sophisticated
question and answer method. Only relevant data to be entered at that moment
appear on screen. The structurally recorded data can subsequently be
automatically included in a letter. The EPR can be easily integrated with the
care information system that is already present in the care institute and of
course dovetails seamlessly into all the other ChipSoft modules.

Working with the EPR has great benefits: timesaving, faultless registration,
overview and insight. The time saved through the electronic recording and
consultation of data is especially evident in the once-only registration. Once
entered, the patient related data are always accessible and retrievable. Lost
information and/or extended searches for records are a thing of the past. In
addition, the EPR questions module ensures that questions cannot be skipped.
Human errors are overcome by a system that forgets nothing. Each patient record
is clear for everyone because all the information is recorded in a structured
manner. This does not mean that the EPR looks exactly the same in all the
departments of each care institution. On the contrary, the EPR is a tool with
which each doctor or department can design the system to correspond with their
own working methods. The EPR adopts the working methods of its users and not the
other way around. Finally, it is always clear what has been done and by whom.
The patient’s medication history, laboratory results as well as all
correspondence can be easily consulted. This facilitates the optimum supervision
of patients during the treatment process, allowing efficient working methods.
Most important features
The set of functionalities can be tailored to the requirements of the doctor,
department or care institution. The patient is central in the EPR, but at the
same time the existing workflow is taken into account. This makes the EPR a
friendly system for both patients and care providers; it gives optimum support
to the care and treatment process. And because ChipSoft’s EPR is
Windows-operated, X-rays, drawings and images can be included in the record.
This all contributes to the multifunctionality of the EPR.
